Massive, over ten-meter-tall gothic-renaissance sepulchral monument, which belongs to Tarnowski family, and a baroque one, which belongs to Ostrogski family, can be admired in the Cathedral of Tarnów.

The oldest industry in Europe, which has been operating for over 750 years
Bochnia Salt Mine - The salt mine in Bochnia is the oldest one in Poland, even older that the mine in Wieliczka; it is the oldest production works in Europe, continuously operating for 750 years.
For several years the salt mine in Bochnia has been open for the public, inviting tourists and locals alike into its underground world. Here they can hike along the winding maze of corridors and chambers, 300 meters long, that have been forged after years of mining.

The only exhibition in Europe which illustrates the history and culture of the polish gypsies
The Etnographic Museum in Tarnów is located in a mansion that dates back to the turn of the 18th and19th centuries. This is the only museum in Europe that maintains a permanent exhibition of Gypsy history and culture.

The most northern part of the Carpthian montains
The furthest protruding part of the Carpathian Mountains towards north is St. Martins Mountain, located within Tarnów's administrative borders.




Tarnów - Polish Capital of Comedy?
For nearly 10 years, in October, the Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnów has launched the International Festival of Comedy. Entertained by both Polish and foreign theatre troupes, the audience laughs to tears.
