The Spa Salt Mine, Bochnia, is a very unique place. It has been established on the basis of the salt mine, which on the surface has been enriched by a modern tourist complex. At the moment the Spa offers:
- underground salt pits, which include a tourist route and recreation chambers,
- The Sutoris Hotel,
- A Centre of Rehabilitation and Biological Regeneration,
- A Centre of Active Recreation, "Borek"
Tourists who arrive in Bochnia can visit the underground route and enjoy the only possibility in Poland to spend a night underground. Within the underground salt chambers one may receive therapy for asthma, allergies and other such illnesses of the upper respiratory tract. The Spa is also a suitable place for organising conferences, firm and integration meetings.
The Bochnia Salt Mine
The Bochnia Salt Mine is the oldest salt mine in Poland and has been run by the oldest salt company in Europe, which has worked continuously since 1248. After almost eight centuries of exploration it reminds one broadly of an underground city, full of secretive and unusual places.
Along the tourist route open to the public we can see historical chapels made of rock salt, original tools and authentic mining equipment, and unusual salt chambers with remaining traces of the explorative work of the mine. In Bochnia's mine is also available an underground train, slide and a sport's field.
Aiming to fulfil the needs of all the mine's visitors we have prepared underground places where you can enjoy a health-giving rest, organise a conference, or hold integration parties and banquets.
The Sutoris Hotel
The Sutoris Hotel offers the highest standard services. It is located in the direct vicinity of the mine's 13th century salt well. We place at your disposal 94 sleeping places in 1,2 and 3-person rooms, either of studio type rooms or apartment suites. All rooms have bathrooms, TV-SAT, telephones, and Internet access. Within the hotel there is a conference room fully equipped with audio-visual equipment. Situated on the ground floor is a Centre of Rehabilitation and Biological Regeneration which offers pearl baths, saline baths with hydro-water massage, classic massage and Scottish hydro-massages. Also available are a sauna, solarium and gymnasium. The decoration of the hotel's restaurant "Grota" is rich with the history of Bochnia's mine and serves traditional regional dishes as well as Polish and European specialities. Our friendly and professional staff will take care of your comfort and hope to provide an ambient atmosphere.
The Centre of Active Recreation, "Borek"
This complex is located 10 km from Bochnia. It covers an area of 50 hectares and is divided into two independent parts. In the recreational-resting part there are riding stables, a complex of sport's fields, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a holiday centre with 60 sleeping places, a regional tavern and fishing ponds. The second part provides a paintball ground where except for wooden fortifications there is also a system of high obstacles, a climbing wall and a place to organise barbecues. The location of the complex away from built-up areas and the noise of towns provides an ideal opportunity for active recreation of various kinds.
The Borek recreation centre is an ideal place to organise an integration party, motivation meetings or even just a picnic - and can take care of up to 3000 people at a time.
