The record - high Easter palm, winner of the 51st Easter Palms' Contest in
Lipnica Murowana, measures precisely 33 meters and 45 centimeters. Zbigniew
Urbański from Lipnica Murowana, creator of the winning palm, has beaten his
own record set last year.
The second was Andrzej Leszczyński's family with 28 meters high palm. And
the third was Mr Mateusz Mecha with 24 meters high palm.
Over 50 palms competed. All will be exposed to the public in Lipnica
Murowana for a week.
It takes months to create one palm. All are made from willow and decorated
with flowers and ribbons. While standing palms up no mechanical devices can
be used. Tradition does not allow that - says Krzysztof Bogusz, head of the
Gminny Ośrodek Kultury in Lipnica Murowana.
